It’s a dreich weekend in Stirling – but there’s lots to do with your loved one! First up, must be Stirling Castle, one of the most romantic and fascinating castles to visit in Scotland. Actors take you back to the medieval times to help you get a feel of what it must have been like to be Mary Queen of Scots.
There’s also a gin distillery, with the best gin you are ever likely to taste, in close proximity. And, when you’re done in the Castle precinct, make your way down the hill into Stirling’s quaint city centre. Nicky-Tam’s Bar & Bothy always has a lovely fire or two for you to cosy up to. And, Brea offers scrumptious Scottish food for special occasions.
Other ideas to keep you busy and engaged indoors this weekend include a visit to the Engine Shed, which is near the station and currently has amazing exhibitions put on by historic Scotland on, among other things, Iona Abbey. It’s free to pop in.
